Barcelona-based ready-to-wear label, Custo Barcelona, is pleased to
unveil the latest collection for Spring / Summer 2020, titled Wet Paint. Inspired by female individuality and strength, the brand’s newest offering pays tribute to the modern woman who is not afraid make
herself heard, both vocally and through her daring wardrobe. As the women’s range continues to take center stage, Custo Barcelona also showcases a first look at the relaunch of a menswear capsule, which
marks a return to the brand’s origins nearly four decades ago.
Always inspired by the idea of female empowerment, Custo Barcelona’s Spring / Summer 2020 womenswear collection seeks to celebrate the female form through experimental lines and apertures.
Linear silhouettes and signature geometrical patterns combine to offer playful glimpses of the body through the use of subtle openings and cut-outs. Jacquards are cut into small criss-crossed strips and
insinuatingly placed on the sides of dresses, on the sleeves of jackets, and atop playful skirts. Full looks are created using provocative combinations of geometrically-cut strips and juxtaposed patterns.
Spring / Summer 2020 emphasizes short hemlines atop one-piece looks and matching sets, layered with sport-inspired jackets and oversized coats. A high-low balance continues throughout with bellbottoms and oversized-ruffled pants topped with casual sweaters and cropped tops. The finishing
touch for the season introduces subtle ironic messages as embroidery and delicate multi-colored details as decorative motifs that add an irreverent and contemporary feeling to the overall collection.
Much like the womenswear line, the debut menswear offering presents an array of looks for fearless men who dare to take risks with color. Swimwear leads the pack for the collection, with graphic and metallic board shorts featuring high hems serving as the ideal complement to the women’s range. Full looks are completed with patterned crew-necks and floral silk shirting for a perfect day-to-night look that is distinctly Custo.
Fabrics choices for the season continue the story of modernity as technical fabrics combine with delicate woven jacquards and fringe, creating interesting texture throughout the collection. White neoprene serves as a key ingredient, which threads throughout the offering adding an element of
purity, while colorful experimental organdies imbue the signature Custo appeal.
“When you move into a new home, the first you do is paint it to create a clean canvas for a new life,”
says Custo Dalmau, the Creative Director of Custo Barcelona. “Similarly, with this collection – titled Wet Paint – we aim to do just that for the Custo Barcelona brand. Our goal this season is to ‘renovate’
the Custo DNA for the present and future through the creation of extremely emotional pieces.”
As with all Custo Barcelona collections, Spring / Summer 2020 embraces the idea of defying classical clothing categories through one-of-kind patterns, textural pairings, and finishing touches that create
a look as bold as the modern individual. The Custo Barcelona Spring / Summer 2020 Collection will be available for purchase nationwide
starting January 2020 at selected retailers and online at www.CUSTO.com
About Custo Barcelona:
Custo Barcelona was founded by the Dalmau brothers, Custo and David, following an extensive joint world-wide journey. During their fascinating travels, the siblings chased new horizons, exposing
themselves to a plethora of artistic, cultural and philosophical influences. Using their findings as the foundation, the brand was launched under the name Custo Line in 1982. The Dalmau brothers began
to learn as much as possible about printing techniques and unique finishes to garments, placing precise attention on graphic design when creating each piece.
Today, Custo Barcelona continues the Dalmau brothers’ narrative and since 1997 has been showcasing collections under the current company name at New York, Barcelona and Milan Fashion Weeks.
Innovation and creativity lie at the core of the brand’s signature style that has become instantly recognizable thanks to the brothers’ bold use of graphics and color.
In June 2019, Custo Barcelona signed a licensing agreement with Italian firm Velmar S.p.A., company of Aeffe Group, for the international development of the brand. The agreement includes the production and
worldwide distribution of men’s, women’s, leather goods, shoes, accessories collections. The Dalmau brothers will continue being the brand’s creative minds, coordinating a team of young designers while
Velmar will take care of all business aspects.
